Welcome

Hi, I’m Darren, but most people call me Bealers.

Welcome to my personal site where I write on a range of subjects that are normally loosely related to productivity, self-improvement, or my favourite productivity tool, OneNote.

My aim is to show you ways of organising your life so that you can get the important things done whilst staying healthy.

This is all based on my hard-won experience gained running my web development company and turning my health around, both mental and physical, from very unwell, stressed out, overweight & unfit to lean, fit and healthy whilst managing to keep the stress & anxiety (mostly) at bay.

I don’t pretend to be a personal development guru, but I do hope that by sharing what works for me I can help other people avoid making the same mistakes that I did.

Below I’ve collated some of my more popular posts under key sections for convenience, I also provide some background information.

Feeling overwhelmed?

Mental health, positive thinking and mindfulness

All subjects very close to my heart.

If you are looking to improve then you should consider learning how to

Good diet & healthy living

News just in: a good diet & some sort of exercise regime is hugely important.

Productivity systems

To keep sane I use my own OneNote based system which incorporates parts of popular systems like GTD, ZTDPomodoro as well as aspects of many more obscure ones.

There will be much more to come on this topic in the coming months but for now:

Doing means working

We all know this, but it doesn’t make it any easier to swallow.

My story

If you are still reading and I’ve not put you off then here is some context:

Spring 2016

2014: me presenting at The Business of Web Design roadshow. I’ve got pot belly and (you can’t tell this from the photo) I felt like crap.

2016: 2 years on as I finish the London Marathon (10 months after I first started running). I’m well over 2 stone lighter and have gone from 36″ to 30″ waist.

I hope some of that was of interest. If so then be aware that I’ll be adding things more regularly from now on. I’m trying to get a podcast out every couple of weeks and I’ve a list of blog posts to write longer than my arm. So stick around and get stuck in.

In the meantime if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me via Twitter. I’m @bealers. There is also a mailing list so you can stay up to date with ease, fill in the form below to get started.

Thanks 😊
